2/22 will be four years since I started keeping track of my growth, and I am so surprised at how well my hair has grown!
Recently, I've gotten to use this magical concoction from Nightblooming, and I absolutely love it.
I'll be writing up a full review of my experience with it as soon as I can get a hold of a nice camera.
I would like to share a couple of photos I did a little while back of a really nice (in my opinion, of course, ha) attempt at a 4-strand braid.

Normally, when I do a 4-strand braid, my go-to method is to rope braid 2 rope braids together.
That technique is a cable/hawser braid (This is a great video demonstrating it)
For these braids, however, I did it the old-fashioned way, by weaving 4 single strands of hair together.
This braid is beautiful, and it eats up quite a lot of length- much more than a 3-strand English braid.
I've also been experimenting with 5-strand braids and beyond, but those can be quite difficult for my fingers!

Hi! That's an impressive braid you got there, I'm so happy you're updating your blog again. I wanted to ask, how's the condition of your ends now after bleaching? Are they nice still? I would love to lighten my hair for my henna to show more but I'm terrified of the damage. Hope to read you soon!

DeleteMy hair's been in pretty good condition. To be totally honest, I only noticed a very slight increase in splits since I bleached my hair. I've been very gentle and keeping an eye on the condition of my hair since then, and will trim splits as I see them forming.
I have not had any major textural changes, or major changes in the overall condition of my hair. I have been trimming slightly more, but mostly because I'm getting to lengths where maintaining a straight hemline is tough. I believe I'm hovering somewhere around 36" or so.

Thanks so much for your reply! My hair is a very dark brown, almost black and I kinda wish for a dark auburn sort of colour (maybe 2 tones lighter). But my hair is not very resilient and my ends are suffering from previous dye jobs (breakage and splits everywhere!). I'll strand test anyways, but maintaining a blunt hemline and dealing with damage is so difficult.

DeleteI personally would trim off as much of the splits and dry ends before embarking on adventures with bleach. My experience is, probably because my color underneath the henna is very light already, I didn't get much lift. But I am not sure if you'll achieve more lift more easily than I did, because you have more starting color to lift out.
